San Diego Food & Wine Festival: This Could Be You

Sometimes, we must leave our beloved New York City to stick our noses into another city's food and wine fest. It's a hard life.

Why not join in the fun for the San Diego Food & Wine Festival? Starting November 18th and ending on the 22nd, this foodie fest is the perfect getaway weekend. C'mon, you know you want to swirl and sniff under the sun!

The 6th Annual Food & Wine Festival is actually quite affordable and hands-on. Most events, like a pasta making class taught by James Beard award-winning Chef Alex Stratta, cost just $75 a ticket.

If classes aren't your thing and you just want to sample the goods, the Grand Event costs $125 per ticket and features 170 wineries, 70 of San Diego's best restos, and live entertainment.
We can't guarantee Shamu.
For more info or tickets, please visit www.worldofwineevents.com or call 619-342-7337.
Boozy updates to follow after the Festival.

You Can Meet Mario Batali

Though he hasn't been seen on Iron Chef for some time, we still like the antics (and the food) of everyone's favorite redheaded chef, Mario Batali.
You can catch a glimpse of him tomorrow, September 23rd, at Food Emporium from 12:30 to 2:30pm., where he will be debuting his latest line of pasta sauces. Yum! We hope there are samples.
The Food Emporium BridgeMarket is located at 405 East 59th St.(59th & First Avenue).

Big Apple BBQ Block Party Article for Fiery Foods

The Big Apple BBQ Block Party, held this weekend in Madison Square Park, was all we'd dreamed it would be.

There was tangy pulled pork galore, juicy ribs, and foot stomping blues. We didn't let a little drizzle and insanely long, half-starved crowds get us down.

Check out my full length review of NYC's best BBQ fest for Fiery Foods magazine:

Meat Me in the Park

Madison Square Park, that is.

This weekend, the Big Apple BBQ Block Party takes over the outdoor space, offering fantastic BBQ goods from the nation's top pitmasters. Some regional 'cue hounds will be representing as well, including the grillers behind Blue Smoke and Dinosaur BBQ. Go NYC!

Entrance is free, and plates cost just $8 a pop. Live blues can also be heard both days around 1pm.

Check back with me on Monday for a full recap of the festivities.

Park Slope Pork Off Competition: This Sunday

Forget about the much-hyped Bacon Takedown. We've got you covered this Sunday, May 3rd, for the Park Slope Pork Off.
Citycitybangbangny will be offering a triple bacon salad at the event...cooked by...yours truly. But that's not all!
$10 buys you a ticket to hog heaven--literally--as over 20 competitors (food writers, home cooks, and local chefs) combine forces for charity (toxic waste victims in the Philippines, 'natch).
That means you'll get over 20 tastings of pork-tastic dishes...at about .50 a pop. What a steal!
Come early though, as we're expecting a great turn out.
Consider this your official invite to pig out!
